What do you see on the trek?
Day one of the trip is your arrival day in Kathmandu, Nepal. When you arrive at Kathmandu airport, We Trek Nepal representative will welcome you and transfer to hotel. It will take more or less 20 minutes to reach hotel depending upon traffic. We will let you know about our trip briefing schedule and other essentials on your arrival at the hotel. You stay relaxed and try to adjust with the new atmosphere as a traveller. We will talk about any questions you may have at our trip briefing meeting.
We are at the elevation of 1,400 meters from sea level and are going well above 5,000 meters on the trip. We will take this day as our acclimatization and preparation day before we head up towards the mountains. Instead of staying idle in hotel, we will take you for a wonderful day tour of Kathmandu valley. Exploring UNESCO’s cultural heritage sites in Kathmandu is the best way to know about historical, cultural and spiritual aspects of this 2 millennia old city. We will visit Swoyambhunath popularly known as the Monkey Templethat is oldest monument in Kathmandu valley, Kathmandu Durbar Squarethat is one of the medieval palace squares in Kathmandu valley, Boudhanaththat is the largest Buddhist stupa and Pashupatinaththat is a Hindu temple premises with open Hindu cremation platforms on the bank of River Bagmati. Once we are back to hotel in the afternoon, we will go for last minute gearing up for our trekking adventure.
We are leaving Kathmandu behind today and driving to Soti Khola in the Budhi Gandaki River valley to start the trekking. The highway and countryside drive takes us 139 west of Kathmandu. We will be able to see the Nepalese countryside as we drive along the highway; cross the River Trishuli and drive towards the destination for the day. We prepare for the trek and take rest to wear off the long day driving tiredness.
We are all set to leave on the trekking adventure along the river valley today. On the first day of our Manaslu Circuit Trek, we will walk to Machha Khola. The distance between Soti Khola to Machha Khola has several wonderful nature and rural lifestyle. Treking along the trail that goes opposite the Budhi Gandaki River course has so much to offer that every next thing is a wonder. We reach Machha Khola and check into a teahouse to stay overnight.
We will continue the trekking journey towards Dovan. We trek past beautiful Kholabesi to Tatopani. Tatopani translates as hot water and the names suggests of the presence of natural hot spring here. We will have to walk across suspension bridges several times along the trail. The beautiful surroundings of the trail ease our effort on the trail. Once we reach Dovan, we will have time to soak into the beauty of the place surrounding it.
Our trek to Tsum Valley takes us to Philim today. We are still following the trail that also takes us towards Larke Pass in Manaslu Circuit Trek. The walk for the day takes us past Sirdibas to the destination. We will have to cross several suspension bridges along the trail. Once we reach Philim, we settle into a teahouse and spend time at leisure.
We will head towards Tsum Valley from today leaving behind the trail towards Larke pass. We will walk to Ekle Bhatti where the trail divides into two. We will take the trail towards Tsum Valley and walk towards Chumling village to stay overnight. Tracing the peaceful trail full of natural wonders, we reach the beautiful village of Chumling where we can see wonderful rural lifestyle. Chumling village is a perfect place to observe the life in lower Tsum valley.
It’s the day to enter upper Tsum valley today when we trek to Chhokang Paro. The wonders of Tsum valley start appearing along the trail. Although the trekking in the lower part of the river valley was equally wonderful, we can feel and experience a different landscape and cultural lifestyle as we trek higher and deeper into the valley. Once we reach Chhokang Paro, we spend relaxing time around the place.
We are walking even deeper into the valley. We will continue our trek and walk towards Nile as our destination for the day. We will come across an ancient cave where a Tibetan Buddhist saint, Milarepa, meditated. We visit the Milarepa cave and walk further towards the destination. We reach Nile to enjoy the cultural wonders of the village.
We will trek to Mu Gompa today in the upper Tsum valley. Mu Gompa is the highest settlement in the Tsum valley. The trail goes past several wonders of the remoteness of the valley. We reach Mu Gompa and explore the surroundings. This place is a small but incredibly beautiful settlement where Tibetan Buddhist dwellers have been living for ages. Although they follow Tibetan Buddhism, people here belong to Gurung ethnicity. This village is a beautiful example of upper Tsum valley culture and lifestyle. We will also go to explore Dhephyudonma Gompa that stands at spectacular 4,180 meters above sea level.
We have an extra day here at Mu Gompa to explore the surroundings. We may go to Nguladhojyang pass standing at 5,093 meters above sea level. The pass brings the view of Tibetan plateau and Nepal Tibet border along with beautiful mountain surroundings. This is totally optional trip. If we choose not to go on a long day hike, we will stay at Mu Gompa exploring the surroundings.
After spending beautiful time at Mu Gompa and its surroundings, we will trek to Rachen Gompa today on our return trek. Rachen Gompa is another beautiful Tibetan Buddhist village where the upper Tsum valley culture and lifestyle wonders are at plenty. We will come across Ghongey Gompa along the way where we spend some time to explore it. When we reach Rachen Gompa, we spend time at leisure.
We will trek back to Dumje descending towards lower Tsum. The peaceful trail brings us past lower Tsum wonders. Dumje is just a small settlement of many in the region. We stay overnight at Dumje today.
The day will bring us back to Philim to stay overnight today. We retrace the trail and reach Philim via Ripchet.
Trek back to Tatopani past Jagat village. Stay overnight there.
The last day of trek, we will trek back to Soti Khola. The lower Budhi Gandaki river valley trail feels more comfortable after exploring the remote Tsum Valley. We stay overnight at Soti Khola.
We will drive back to Kathmandu today via Arughat Bazar. This will be a pretty much long day drive. Once we are in Kathmandu, we will have easy time relaxing and wearing off the tiredness of walking and driving. Yet, the memory of peaceful walking adventure remains deeply attached to our mind and heart.
We have come the final day of the big Tsum Valley Trek and we hope that you enjoyed the adventure. Now, it’s the time to say a departing goodbye for this time with the hope to see you soon for next adventure. We will drive you to airport 3 hours before your flight schedule.
