Mera Peak Climbing is one of the most popular climbing adventures in the Himalayas of Nepal. This climbing peak lies past the Hinku valley in the Everest region. This beautiful 6,461-meter peak offers an incredible trekking experience before and after the actual climbing of the mountain.
The climbing enthusiasts will enjoy amazing adventurous time during the trekking and climbing days in addition to the breathtaking views of the Himalaya. Although the adventure goes to the Everest region, this trip doesn’t take you to the Everest base camp. This climbing adventure can be extended with more days of trekking towards Amphu Labtsa pass and back to Lukla via Chhukung. However, Mera Peak Climbing adventure in itself gives a wonderful trekking experience in addition to the climbing that will not necessarily require any further trekking extension. You will surely enjoy the wonderful combination of trekking and climbing on this adventure.
Although Mera Peak is trekking, you will be moving over snow.
This trek will involve climbing on snow.
You will be given training in the use of the equipment, even if you are experienced, we need to know your skill level.
The price includes the hire of harness, crampons, ascent and descent equipment and a full safety briefing.
Your guide has been trained and has practised avalanche awareness, trust their decisions.
Day one of the trip is your arrival day in Kathmandu, Nepal. When you arrive at Kathmandu airport, We Trek Nepal representative will welcome you and transfer to hotel. It will take more or less 20 minutes to reach hotel depending upon traffic. We will let you know about our trip briefing schedule and other essentials on your arrival at the hotel. You stay relaxed and try to adjust with the new atmosphere as a traveller. We will talk about any questions you may have at our trip briefing meeting.
We are at the elevation of 1,400 meters from sea level and are going well above 5,000 meters on the trip. We will take this day as our acclimatization and preparation day before we head up towards the mountains. Instead of staying idle in hotel, we will take you for a wonderful day tour of Kathmandu valley. Exploring UNESCO’s cultural heritage sites in Kathmandu is the best way to know about historical, cultural and spiritual aspects of this 2 millennia old city. We will visit Swoyambhunath popularly known as the Monkey Templethat is oldest monument in Kathmandu valley, Kathmandu Durbar Squarethat is one of the medieval palace squares in Kathmandu valley, Boudhanaththat is the largest Buddhist stupa and Pashupatinaththat is a Hindu temple premises with open Hindu cremation platforms on the bank of River Bagmati. Once we are back to hotel in the afternoon, we will go for last minute gearing up for our trekking adventure.
It is going to be our first day in the mountains today. We drive to airport early in the morning for our flight to Tenzing Hilary airstrip in Lukla. This short and spectacularly adventurous flight takes us to breathe the rejuvenating air of the Everest region. Once we land at Lukla airport, we prepare to embark on the Mera Peak Climbing adventure. Although it’s a big adventure in the mountains, we will go at ease and pace as we advance towards our destination for the day. We will trek for the day to Chutanga to stay overnight. The walk takes us through forest and bushes and mountain streams before reaching the overnight destination.
We will have to spend an extra night here to acclimatize as we will be trekking over 4,000 meters tomorrow. As part of the acclimatization, we can go on hiking exploration of the surroundings. We will stay overnight at Chutanga today.
We will trek to Thuli Kharka today. The walk for the day will take us to the destination via a high Himalayan pass of Zwatra La. An uphill walk will take us towards the pass where we will witness some breathtaking view of the snow-capped mountains in the surroundings. The peaks like Kongde and Numbur Himal and Dudh Koshi river valley view come to our sight once we reach the pass. Later, we descend all the way to Thuli Kharka to stay overnight.
On our walk of the day today, we will trek through Hinku Valley. We will trek to Kothe as our destination for the day. The first section of the trail descends to Hinku River. The trail then enters rhododendron forest and heads towards Kothe where we stay overnight today.
Our destination for the day today is Thaknak. Along the trail, we will reach Gondishung we can visit an old Buddhist monastery, the Lungsungba monastery. This is also the place where we can find some temporary camps for the cattle herders from the region. We will trek further to Thanknak and enjoy the relaxing moment at the camp.
We will spend another day here to acclimatize. We will go around for some hiking exploration as part of our acclimatization process. Overnight stay at the camp.
The walk for the day today will take us to Khare for the overnight stay. The trail passes through Dig Kharka and brings some incredible views of snow-capped mountain peaks from along the trail. Once we reach Khare, we will take relaxing time around and enjoy the overwhelming view of Mera Peak. Our overnight stay will be at tented camp at Khare.
We will eventually trek to the Mera Base Camp today. The walk will go through steep trail to reach the base camp to stay overnight. We settle on the tents and explore the surroundings of the base camp. The walk around will help us acclimatize. Later, we will have a pre-climbing briefing.
It is going to be a little challenging day today as we are climbing to the high camp. Although not a technical climbing part, it will set usa tough challenge through snow and several crevasses.But that is the nature of climbing adventures. Once we reach the High Camp, we settle into our tents and spend relaxing time.
It is the highlight day of the trip as we are attempting to summit the Mera Peak. We will start the climb early in the morning and pass through the snow towards the summit. Mera peak requires less technical skills to climb the mountain. Once we reach the summit, we will enjoy the spectacular views of the highest mountain in the world, Everest and 8000 meters mountains of Lhotse (8516m) and Cho Oyu (8210m) and several other beautiful mountains like Ama Dablam, Kangtega etc. We will spend beautiful time at the top and later descend all the way down to Khare to stay overnight.
This contingency day will help us to compensate any possible delay on the climb.
We will trek back to Hinku valley today. Kothe is our destination for the walk back today. We reach Kothe and stay overnight at the camp.
The day walk today will take us to Thuli Kharka as our destination. We still enjoy the majestic view Mera Peakwhere we spent an unforgettable time on our adventure.
We finally trek back to Lukla and it is the final day of the walk on our Mera Peak Climbing adventure. We, again, trek overZatrwa La along the trail before reaching Lukla. Once in Lukla, we see off our expedition crew members thanking them for the successful and memorable adventure. It is going to be our last night in the mountains.
We say goodbye to mountains today as we fly back to Kathmandu. A wonderfully peaceful adventure has come to end yet it has left a life lasting impression upon us. With the memory and love for mountains and people there, we fly back to Kathmandu where we will have time to find a soothing relaxing after trek massage or just chill around.
This additional day is to cover any possible delay or cancellation of the flight to Lukla and back which is a usual thing in this flight sector due to weather condition. If this contingency day is not used, it’s a free day in Kathmandu to do some activities or just spend a relaxing day.
