Mardi Himal Trek is a recently opened and less crowded trekking trail located in the Annapurna region, is ideal for those who have a two-week holiday in Nepal and want to do both Kathmandu and Pokhara sightseeing along with trekking to Mardi Himal near the Pokhara valley. While trekking to Mardi, you'll enjoy the scenic beauty of the majestic Himalayas, rich natural landscapes, blend of culture, and lifestyles of people living in the Mardi region. Nowadays, many tourists visiting Nepal prefer to indulge themselves in the beauty of Mardi Himal and the isolated trekking route through the dense forests.
The trail takes you away from the main trail to hidden areas of the Annapurna region. Initially, you'll walk through low warm rice-terraced fields to reach cooler alpine hills covered with thick dense forests of tall rhododendron-oaks-magnolia-pines and fir. The trail winds through thick rhododendron trees, past isolated communities, and narrow trails until it emerges at an elevation of around 3,300 meters. The trek offers a diversity of flora and fauna and you'll find basic teahouses or homestays for your meals and overnight stays. Moreover, you'll enjoy incredible glimpses of the Annapurna range of peaks with close views of Mardi, Himchuli, Annapurna South, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu, and Machhapuchare Himal.
On your way back from Low Camp, you'll get an opportunity to visit the Ghandruk village, located about 32 km on the northwest side of Pokhara where most people belong to the Gurung community. You'll also come across other ethnic groups, including Magar, Thakali, etc. It will be fascinating to learn about their unique cultures and customs.
The best seasons for Mardi Himal Trek are spring and autumn, but it is also possible to do the trek if you're prepared for extreme cold temperatures and maybe snowfall in the winter months of December through January.

After early breakfast we will drive you to Kande and begin your trek to Forest Camp, enjoying the scenic views and forests. The trail to Forest Camp is mostly level, with a few gentle ascents. After passing through a lovely Hill, you will walk to the jungle of Rhododendron and Oak. There is one section which goes uphill. It’s not too steep, but it is a long section and takes you around 30 minutes to ascend to arrive at Forest Camp
The trail climbs steeply through a forest of juniper and rhododendrons from the Forest camp to the high camp. Today’s walk is a steeper climb to get over a hillock, then relatively flat for a while, and again start another ascent.
When you reach the summit, you will be immensely rewarded with the stunning vistas of Mount Macchapuchre and the Annapurna range. Overnight at High Camp.
From High Camp, we will start early morning around 4’30 am for Mardi Himal View Point, a beautiful open plateau, to enjoy the sunrise along with the stunning panoramic views of the surrounding giant peaks of the Annapurna Himalayas, Mount Machhapuchare ( Fishtail), and Mardi Himal. The altitude gain is significant, and you can feel the thin air as you climb higher elevations. After spending some time at Mardi View Point, we slowly walk down with stone steps and reach Low Camp. Overnight stay at Low Camp
Leaving Low Camp, we will follow the downhill trail that passes through the shade of the forest and out onto the terraced fields, and grazing lands and finally reach Ghandruk village. This village is predominantly inhabited by the Gurung community, renowned for their bravery as former Gurkha soldiers in the British Army. In Ghandruk, the rich Gurung culture permeates every facet of daily life. Wander around the village to see colorful prayer flags waving in the air, intricately carved wooden windows, and traditional stone houses.
Today is the shortest day of Mardi Himal trekking. We will start our trek from Ghandruk and head towards Birethanti. The trail is mostly downhill and there is a significant section that follows the road down to Birethanti. During the trek, you will pass through some villages. Eventually, the path comes out by the river and follows it down. The hike from Birethanti to Nayapul is not very long, taking only 20 minutes and it is not very exciting. At Nayapul, our jeep is ready to take you to Pokhara. This will mark the end of your 6-day-long trek. Our jeep will take you straight to your hotel where you can relax and unwind.
