The Mardi Himal Trek is an amazing opportunity to explore the Annapurna region and its deep forests and high alpine pastures. This trek is perfect for those looking for a new and less-traveled route. The trails can be difficult to identify and we may encounter shepherds and pilgrims passing by. The trek provides stunning mountain views and a chance to experience traditional village life.
The whole region is covered in dense bamboo and rhododendron forests with very steep slopes. High alpine meadows offer ideal grazing and a refuge for wild animals. Although the Mardi Himal trek was recently officially opened, it has become very popular among Nepal travelers. The trek can be completed in 8-12 days and begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara, followed by a local jeep ride to Kande, which is the starting point of the trek.
On the trek, you will visit culturally vibrant villages belonging to the Gurung ethnic community. In the spring, you can enjoy beautiful sights of red rhododendrons in bloom. You will spend a night at Pitam Deurali, low camp, high camp, and make an excursion to Mardi View Point to enjoy the best glimpse of sunrise and view along with Mt. Mardi Himal, Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and other surrounding peaks.
After spending a few hours at Mardi View Point, we return to Pokhara and take a flight back to Kathmandu. Mardi Himal Trek (short route) is a private guided trekking package and our experienced guides will take care of everything throughout the trek.
Upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, our representative will be there to greet you and take you to your hotel in a comfortable vehicle. Our airport-hotel transfer service is more than just a simple ride. Once you arrive at the hotel, you will be offered a welcome drink in the lobby, and then you can proceed with the check-in process. Our company's manager will be there to personally brief you on the itinerary in detail to ensure that you have a smooth and enjoyable trekking journey in Nepal. Your accompanying guide will handle all the logistics during the trek, so you can focus solely on your adventure and relax!
After having breakfast at the hotel, you will be picked up and taken to Kathmandu Domestic Airport for a flight to Pokhara. The flight offers breathtaking views of the magnificent Mount Annapurna and Machhapuchhre. Once you arrive in Pokhara, we will pick you up and drive you to Kande via a newly paved road, which will take approximately one hour. From Kande, your trek to Pitam Deurali will begin. The trail is a bit challenging and climbs a steep set of steps for around forty minutes, after which it descends gently for another twenty minutes to reach Australian Base Camp. After having lunch at Australian Base Camp, we will trek for over an hour to arrive at Pitam Deurali, a beautiful village. Although some sections of the trail are steep, the majority of the trek is enjoyable and gradual uphill. You will spend the night at a lodge in Pitam Deurali.
As you leave Pittam Deurali, you'll embark on a pleasant walk to a beautiful hill that offers a breathtaking view. The journey should take about an hour, with gentle ascents along the mostly level path. After passing through the lovely hill, you'll venture into the jungle on a gradual incline. There is a section that goes uphill, which takes around 30 minutes to ascend, but it's not too steep. Once you've reached the top, you'll arrive at Forest Camp where you can enjoy a delightful lunch. After lunch, you'll continue your trek with a 2-hour uphill climb. However, it's not too challenging as you will have already walked for 3 hours and ascended 400 meters. Finally, you'll reach Low Camp, your overnight stay, which is a stunning location with awe-inspiring views of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna South.
On the fourth day of your trek, you'll need to start early in the morning. The beginning of the trail is relatively easy as you stroll through thick forests of rhododendrons and bamboo. The tranquil atmosphere and fresh air will surely lift your spirits. As you make your way further, the trail will become more challenging as you navigate through steep inclines and rocky terrain. You'll need to walk for about 7-8 hours to reach your destination, but the breathtaking views that surround you during the trek make it all worthwhile. You'll feel inspired and motivated to push yourself to the extreme by the panoramic vistas of the Machhapuchhre peak and the Annapurna range. During the trek, you'll stop at a teahouse to have lunch and rest for a while. Additionally, you'll also get the opportunity to mingle with the locals and experience a bit of their lifestyle and culture. The people are warm and friendly, and their hospitality will make you feel right at home. Finally, you'll reach High Camp, which offers basic accommodation and facilities, but it is comfortable and warm. The evening will be spent relaxing and getting acclimatized to the high altitude.
We will depart early morning around 4:30 am from High Camp to reach Mardi Himal View Point, a beautiful open plateau that offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding giant peaks of the Annapurna Himalayas, Mount Machhapuchare (Fishtail), and Mardi Himal. The altitude gain during the climb is significant, and you may feel the thin air as you climb higher elevations. After spending some time at Mardi View Point, we will slowly walk down using stone steps to reach Low Camp where we will spend the night
In the early morning, we will start our journey which will last for 4 to 5 hours. We will travel via low camp to Sidding village (1700m) and then take a jeep ride back to Pokhara. The jeep ride will take around 1.5 to 2 hours. This marks the end of our wonderful trek to Mardi Himal, which was the shortest one.
After breakfast, your guide will accompany you to Pokhara Airport where you will take a flight back to Kathmandu. Once you land at Kathmandu Domestic Airport, our representative will be there to pick you up. You will then go on a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu, exploring some of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Valley. This will include visits to Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Patan Durbar Square, and Swayambhunath Stupa.
Today marks the end of your stay in Nepal. You will be picked up from the hotel and transferred to the Tribhuvan International Airport as per your flight's departure time. As you board your flight, bid a fond farewell to our Himalayan Country, taking with you the memories of the snow-capped peaks, beautiful scenery, and the warm smiles of the people you have encountered along the way. Nepal will always hold a special place in your heart, and until we meet again, carry the beauty and charm of this land with you.
