We check out the hotel in Kathmandu after the breakfast today to go to Bahundanda. Bahundanda is almost a day long drive 206 km west from Kathmandu past Besi Sahar in the mountains. The drive takes us through the highway that stretches along beautiful landscapes. We drive past several wonderful small villages and towns which give us the very first-hand experience of life outside Kathmandu city. We reach Bahundanda to stay overnight.
We will set off on the very first day of our trekking adventure around the Annapurna massif after breakfast. The trail meanders along the Marshyangdi River valley and we follow the trail towards the destination for the day. The walk of the day is a nice introduction of the Annapurna Circuit Trek that we have set our foot on. We eventually reach Chamje to spend our overnight.
Continuing on our adventure, we will trek to Dharapani today. The trail stretch from Chamje to Dharapani brings wonderful natural surroundings along the river valley. As we are on a Himalayan trek, going up and down the hill following the trail is a normal thing. The views and nature make the day a great adventure. Dharapani is a beautiful settlement in the region where a trail from Manaslu Circuit Trek comes to meet this trail. We check into a guest house and stay relaxed observing the beauty of the surroundings.
Another beautiful day trek in the Annapurna circuit takes us to a peacefully located village of Chame today. This village is the headquarters of Manang district where most of the trekking part on this trip takes place. As we traverse the trail towards destination for the day, we can enjoy beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and hills with serene nature at its best expression. We reach the village of Chame with enough time to explore around it after checking into a tea house.
Pisang is the stopover place for tonight after trekking for the day. We are still following the Marshyangdi River valley up towards the destination. After about 5 hours of trekking, we reach Pisang and check into a guest house. Later, we can explore the village. Pisang is a place where the trekking route to Pisang Peak climbing adventure parts from Annapurna Circuit Trek. We explore and enjoy the surroundings of the place and stay overnight here.
We take an extra day here at Pisang to acclimatize before we go any further higher towards Pisang peak. We go for a hiking exploration and return back to Pisang for overnight stay.
After a full day of acclimatization hike around Pisang yesterday, we are ready to move higher. We are trekking the base camp of Chulu East Peak, our climbing peak. We head towards the destination on gentle pace as the elevation increases towards the base camp. The tough altitude walk will be rewarded with spectacular views from along the trail. We set up our camp at the elevation of 4980 meters above sea level and stay overnight there.
Our destination today is the high camp. About five hours of tough challenge on the mountain takes to the high camp at the elevation of 5,800 meters above sea level. We reach the high camp for lunch where we will spend rest of the day acclimatizing while we enjoy the view of the surrounding.
It’s the main day of the trip as we are going to climb to the summit of Chulu East Peak. The impressive summit of the peak stands at 6,584 meters above sea level. Our challenge starts really early in the morning and heads up towards the summit. Gasping and struggling yet not giving up, we reach the summit of the peak to enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Later, we descend all the way to base camp for overnight stay.
One extra day is needed here in case of any delay on the summit push because of the weather condition and any other circumstances.
We are heading to Manang today. We meet the Annapurna circuit trek route when we are in Manang. We walk past several beautiful places like Ngawal, Upper Pisang and Geru. We can stop at a beautiful monastery along the way to explore the spiritual charm it has. The trail brings some awesome views of the mountain peaks.
After spending an extra day at Manang, we are ready to trek further higher. Our trekking for the day will take us to Yak Kharka to stay overnight. We set off on the trek of about 4 hours towards Yak Kharka that stands at the elevation of 4,050 meters above sea level in the amazing Himalayan surroundings. The place lies in a river gorge surrounded by yak pastures. We will spend peaceful time once we reach Yak Kharka and soak in the beauty of the surroundings.
On our walk today, we reach the base of the Thorong La and it is going to be our highest overnight stopover on the trip. When we reach Thorong Phedi, we will be at the elevation of 4,450 meters above sea level with Thorong La right above at 5,416 meters. The trek to Thorong Phedi will be of about 4 hours letting us enough time to acclimatize and explore the surroundings of the place. We take a good rest waiting on the big adventure tomorrow.
We wake up really early in the morning to start trekking up towards Thorong La. The early morning uphill struggle is not going to be fun but definitely worth when we reach the top of Thorong La. Slow and steady pace will help us cope with this early morning challenge and when we eventually reach the pass, we will be brought to a breathtaking view. Standing at the elevation of 5,416 meters above sea level and enjoying the view around is simply an experience of life time. Later, we trek down to Muktinath to stay overnight.
For a few days now, we will trek on the descending elevation. Our walk for the day takes us to Jomsom for overnight stay along the Kali Gandaki River valley. We are in the lower part of Mustang region where we can enjoy the view of completely a different landscape. We check into a guest house and explore the surroundings.
We will fly to Pokhara early in the morning. A short and spectacular flight along the Himalayan range will take us to Pokhara. We will have an easy day in Pokhara after the big adventure of climbing Chulu East Peak and trekking around Annapurna mountain massif.
We drive back to Kathmandu today. It is about seven hours of drive that takes us back to the Nepalese capital city. Once we reach Kathmandu and check into hotel, we will have free time on our own. After several days in the quiet mountains, life in Kathmandu might feel a sudden change. NB: You will have an option to fly back to Kathmandu at an additional cost. It will take 25 minutes to reach Kathmandu by flight. Let us know in advance if you want to fly back to Kathmandu from Pokhara. Farewell dinner in the evening.
