A journey into its mysteries will provide you with a delightful exposure of wilderness accompanied by a sense of tranquility. In this blog, we shall take a look at what makes the Annapurna Panorama trek special and why you should take it.
Before we embark on the main picture, I would like to provide you a trailer (glimpses) of the major highlights of this endearing journey.
A. HIGHLIGHTS
By reading these highlights, we might have piqued your interest. So, let’s dive a bit deep into this amazing journey.
B. OVERVIEW
The Annapurna Panorama trek is an ideal option for those that don’t have much time. Likewise, it is a great alternative for people that wish to comprehend the magic of the revered Annapurna region. The trekking ordeal normally lasts for 10 days depending on the service provider. Like all treks, it commences from Kathmandu and after fulfilling the formalities, takes you to Pokhara.
From Nayapul, you will officially commence your trek. Navigate through the green forest and picturesque hills to reach the first stopping point, Tikhedhunga. As this is your first time residing in the hills, make this moment memorable. The trail dwindles through gushing streams and pine forests to take you to Ghorepani. Interact with the locals and develop a certain friendship that will prove useful later.
In this journey, you will find people taking other treks like the khopara trek. On a cold morning, head out to Poonhill and climb those dreary steps to witness the immaculate sunrise that envelops the surrounding environment. Stand in awe at the mere sight of the Annapurna mountain range, Dhaulagiri, and even the Mardi Himal.
Finally, descend through Tadapani and then to Ghandruk where a cultural awakening awaits you. Learn the history and mysteries of the Gurung people and store it in your memory bank. The final leg of the journey takes you away from the forested landscape and back to Pokhara where you’ll celebrate with a frosty beer. Head back to Kathmandu and finally your home and place a full-stop in this magnificent journey.
C. TREK DIFFICULTY
As you have to walk for at least 5-hours daily, there are some difficulties associated with it. For starters, you might feel fatigued quickly and your legs may ache. To prevent such problems from happening, we advise you to train your body. Practice by going on short runs and doing exercises like push-up and bodyweight squats. This training regimen will prove helpful in other treks like the Manasalu trek.
D. FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION
In this trek, you will reside on teahouses and lodges. However, in the major cities, you will reside in quality hotels. In the case of food, you can choose to eat either at the hotel or at the restaurants. While trekking, you won’t have access to fancy food so we advise you to carry snacks and other edibles.
E. OTHER OPTIONS
Once you complete this trek, you can take other treks like the Mardi Himal trek. In addition, you can choose to combine the Annapurna Panorama trek with the Annapurna Base Camp trek. Regardless of your option, it will be a memorable experience
