The Annapurna Circuit is a 150-mile-long trek that circles the entire Annapurna massif and offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna Himalayan range. In the Annapurna region, you'll see Annapurna I (8,091m), which is the 10th highest mountain in the world, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri (8,167m), and Manaslu (8,163m), the world’s 7th highest mountain.
The trail starts in an anti-clockwise direction. During the Annapurna Circuit with Ghorepani Trek, you'll pass through beautiful villages inhabited by different ethnic groups, and you'll see landscapes ranging from lowland farming terrain to alpine meadows and Tibet-like country on the northern slopes of the Himalayas.
To start the trek, you need to travel by bus/ jeep for six hours from Kathmandu to Bhulbhule (830m). During the first few days of the trek, you will hike through rice farms, forests, and villages in the lower section of the Annapurna Conservation Area. After five days, you will reach Manang at an elevation of 3500m, where you can acclimate to the altitude and enjoy breathtaking mountain views. The landscape in Mustang is unique and unlike anywhere else in Nepal, as it is located behind the Annapurna range in a rain shadow area that blocks rainfall and creates a desert-like terrain. From Manang, you will go on gently climbing,
On the twelfth day of your trek, you will embark on a journey to cross the iconic Thorung La pass which stands tall at an altitude of 5416m. Upon crossing the pass, you will head towards Muktinath, an important religious tour site for both Hindus and Buddhists. Crossing Thorung La is a technically easy task and promises to be an unforgettable experience. After crossing the pass, you will make a long but easy descent into the Kali Gandaki River valley, where you will be surrounded by towering Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains on either side. Finally, you will visit the Muktinath temple.
In the Muktinath temple site, if you follow the Hindu religion, you can take a bath in 108 taps and 2 ponds to cleanse yourself of all your sins. On day 16, as you move downhill, you will reach Tatopani where you can relax and take a bath in natural hot springs.

Then, you climb Poon Hill, which is above Ghorepani, to take in breathtaking vistas of the mountains. On your way back to Pokhara, you'll pass by several stunning Gurung villages that are the focal point of this historic salt trade route between Tibet and India. Every village teahouse along the path offers lodging and meals. March through May are the finest months to do this trek as during this time the vibrant rhododendron blooms along the path in the Annapurna region's lower elevations.

By private jeep, the cost is expensive as compared to a public bus. It depends on your travel plan and the trip cost involved for this proposed trekking itinerary.
The direct public bus will be a great option if you like to start the trek from Bhulbhule. It is the starting point of the Annapurna Circuit.
During the drive, you’ll be mesmerized by the eye-catching landscapes, including terraced rice fields, picturesque villages, lush green hills, and River Trisuli flowing south.
The road winds through the winding hills and mountains, offering panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, and Annapurna Himalayan range. On every stoppage at Nepali restaurants, you will meet friendly locals, and experience traditional Nepali food and hospitality.
Bhulbhule is filled with beautiful waterfalls and views of mountains like Manaslu and Himalchuli. You will enjoy your journey by land transport as you expect. Overnight stay at a lodge.
Today marks the beginning of your trek on the Annapurna Circuit trail. The humidity can rise during midday as you are presently at a relatively low altitude. Although the hike today may be a bit challenging, you will be rewarded with scenic waterfalls along the way and beautiful surroundings to immerse yourself in.
For the first section of the trek, you will follow the river and walk along a cliff. As you go past some lush forests, the trail will get gradually more uphill and moderately difficult, eventually leading you to the village of Bahundanda (1310m).
There are many steep stairs to climb on the challenging ascent up to the village. After leaving the village, you will arrive at a big, isolated tree facing a striking mountain cliff where you can hear the river roaring below. This is where the trail for the remainder of today's journey will descend.
You will stop for lunch at the village of Ghermu (1130m) and then continue to Jagat, which perches at an elevation of 1000m. Jagat is a small, vibrant community encircled by mountains and luscious forests. You will spend the night at a lodge
Leaving Jagat you will continue the trek to Dharapani located at an elevation of 1860m. For some time you will walk on the rocky path following the river Marsyangdi closely and take a short detour from the road. Though nearly all of the detour's features are stairs walking, it offers a pleasant substitute for the dirt road.
There is a lot of up and down, and the stairs are steep, so it's one of the most difficult parts of the day. Despite the difficult start to the day, the full section only takes a little over 20 minutes. After a while, you will be back on the road and continue following it.
There are some waterfalls on the other side of the river and you may stop to take photos. The big waterfall just outside of Chyamche is pretty impressive. As it only takes around one hour to get there, there is no reason to stop at Chyamche. You can move on straight to Dharapani for an overnight stay.
On your sixth day of the Annapurna Circuit trekking you will see spectacular changes of scenery while passing through alpine meadows and traditional villages. Today you will walk from Dharapani to Timang, from Timang to Koto, and finally from Koto to Chame.
Starting at an elevation of 1860m, you will climb to 2670m by the end of the day. You will follow the needle-covered forest, the meandering path along a rushing river, and next to cattle grazing pasture.
You will cover a total of 15.5km in distance and around 4.5 hours walk from Dharapani to Chame including all stops on the route. Chame is one of the community villages along the eastern part of the trek
On day seven you will head out to Upper Pisang passing through two villages- Bhratang and Dhukur Pokari on the way until you reach Upper Pisang. It would be better to avoid walking on the main road and take a beautiful forest path with wild mushrooms, huge pine trees, flowers, and stunning views over the tallest waterfall.
The trail is perfect and you will enjoy the serenity of the trek. While trekking, you will enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding and snow-capped peaks standing tall above the rushing turquoise river. Encircled by pine forests you will feel quite different from any part of the trail so far.
You will see how quickly the landscape can change when increasing in elevation. The total journey from Chame to Upper Pisang is 15 kilometers. After a 5-6 hours walk you will reach Upper Pisang for an overnight stay at a lodge.
Today’s trek despite being one of the longest and most difficult routes on the Annapurna Circuit, the trail from Upper Pisang to Manang provides some of the most amazing spectacular vistas you will ever explore. After leaving Upper Pisang, the trail ascends a steep ridge that offers good views of the Manang Valley and Tilicho Peak (7145m). Descending past Manang’s airstrip at Humde, you will come to a level area from where the northeast face of Annapurna III rises above you. From the broad plains of the Sabje Khola Valley, you will be able to view Annapurna IV (7525m). After crossing the Marshyangdi Khola over a wooden bridge you have access to a small village of Mungji. From a short steep climb, you will reach Manang which is an unexpectedly large village for this remote mountain region. Overnight stay at a lodge.
This trek is also a great opportunity for those interested in Pisang Peak climbing, as it offers a chance to explore one of the iconic peaks of the Annapurna region. Overnight stay at a lodge.
Manang is one of the best spots for rest and acclimatization when you are on your Annapurna circuit trek. One of the main reasons why you need rest and acclimatization is simply because your body cannot naturally take the quick change in altitude and starts reacting with pulmonary infections and altitude sickness.
To overcome all such sorts of problems, you must have rest and acclimatize in Manang. The village is quite facilitating for its visitors. Over time, it has now become a hub for trekkers to take a rest day.
Today you will be heading away to a much higher altitude to the next destination called Yak Kharka. After early breakfast and packing up your bag, you will be ready to hit the trail again. From Gunsang onward the trail is much easier than the first section of Manang to Gunsang though It may be a longer hike. The uphill portion at Tanki Manang is quite steep and moderately difficult.
On this portion of the trail, you will have to stop multiple times at places to control your breathing and then move ahead. You can enjoy viewing some stunning mountain vistas, which makes today’s trek another satisfying day on the Annapurna circuit. You will cover around 11 km and a 5-6 hour walk from Manang to Yak Kharka with all stops.
After early breakfast, you will leave Yak Kharka and follow the Kone Khola Valley. From Letdar you will climb up the elevation and enjoy the great views of Annapurna. After climbing for a while the trail suddenly descends to the river level and crosses over a wooden bridge. Today’s trek is short but very steep and narrow, highlighting dusty and rocky pathways. On the way you will come across some landslides but the views are awesome. The only place to stay overnight will be at Thorong Phedi Base Camp
Today, you will begin your trek towards Thorong La Pass (5,416m) at dawn, no later than 5 am, to avoid strong afternoon winds at the pass. Your first stop will be Thorong Phedi, from where you will ascend to High Camp (4,800m) before crossing Thorong La pass at 5,416m, the highest point and the most challenging part of the Annapurna Circuit trek.
After crossing the pass, you will reach the small settlement of Chabarbu for a late lunch. During the first hour, you will ascend a steep incline to High Camp. The trail may be damp and icy from the night dew, and the air will be thin. Some parts of the trail may also be slippery and rocky, so you will need to be careful. From High Camp, you will continue walking uphill for about 4 hours until you reach the only teahouse for rest and tea. Then, from the teahouse, it will take another 2 and a half hours to reach the Thorong La Pass. As you gain altitude, you may feel more breathless, so it's important to take your time and continue moving ahead.
After crossing the pass, it will take about 4-5 hours to walk downhill on a rocky and slippery road until you reach the village of Chabarbu where you can have lunch. Most trekkers have lunch at this spot and then continue trekking for another 2 hours to reach Muktinath village (3,760m), where you will spend the night.
